Original Vietnam War-era U.S. military Ground Troops Body Armor front and back plate set with integral carrier, nicknamed the 'Chicken Plate'. This armor system was designed to provide additional protection over vital areas and was rated on the label for protection against .30 caliber ball small arms fire and shell/grenade fragments. Unlike standard fragmentation vests, this setup uses rigid front and back armor plates with a built-in strap carrier system.
Both front and back plates are included, along with the original attached webbing, straps, buckles, waist belt, and instruction labels. The plates are dated 1968 under contract DSA100-68-C-1580 and are marked Medium Long.
