Original U.S. military Ceradyne ESAPI armor plate set consisting of two medium inserts manufactured in March 2013. The Enhanced Small Arms Protective Insert program replaced earlier SAPI plates beginning in 2005 as the military increased its requirements for rifle protection during the Iraq and Afghanistan era.
Both plates retain their original manufacturer labels, U.S. markings, maintenance instructions, and inspection stickers from Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow. The gray-green fabric covers show surface marks, staining, and wear around the edges, with one plate showing more noticeable staining.
ESAPI plates were designed for use with compatible military soft armor backers. These are used surplus examples with unverified current ballistic condition; the inspection stickers do not establish present serviceability. Carrier and soft armor are not included.
