Exceptional Spanish-manufactured D.A.G.S.A. (Defensa Antigás S.A.) gas mask set patterned directly after the German GM38 respirator. This example represents early postwar production using German tooling and materials, evident in the leather-lined facepiece interior, stamped serial number “08831,” and high-grade grey elastic harness typical of 1940s construction.
Included is the original fluted steel transport canister, complete with its anti-fog packet marked in Spanish, and a pristine Dräger-Blanco / DAGSA Segovia 40 mm filter. The filter retains its factory paper band and intact pull-tab seal, confirming an unused/unissued condition.
Rubber remains supple with light storage bloom only, and all straps and buckles are tight with no signs of field use. The lenses show mild ambering from age, consistent with long-term storage.
A textbook example of Spain’s licensed adaptation of the GM38 system, produced under German technical influence during and after the Spanish Civil War. These masks were issued to Spanish military and civil defense units through the early Cold War and are frequently mistaken for wartime Wehrmacht examples.
