Originally introduced in 1965, the M-65 Field Coat was designed to replace the M-1951 and quickly became the standard-issue field jacket for U.S. troops during the Vietnam War and beyond. Known for its rugged construction and practical design, the M-65 was built to endure harsh weather, rough terrain, and long-term wear in the field. This particular coat is finished in the iconic OG-107 olive green shade and made from a durable nylon/cotton sateen blend, offering wind resistance and lasting durability.

This example is in used condition, showing clear signs of field use. It includes paint stains, small tears, a missing zipper, frayed cuffs, a missing epaullete button, and general wear throughout—a true veteran of hard use. Despite its flaws, the coat retains many functional features: a roll-up hood stored in the collar, snap-closure front and pockets, waist and hem drawcords, and adjustable cuffs. Whether you’re restoring it, collecting it, or wearing it for rugged work, this coat offers authentic military character with a story to tell.
