The Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops (PASGT) Helmet served as the standard combat helmet for U.S. military forces from the early 1980s through the mid-2000s. Constructed from layered Kevlar, it provided a significant improvement in ballistic protection over the earlier M1 steel helmet.
 
The PASGT saw widespread service with the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force security forces across major conflicts, including Operation Desert Storm, the Gulf War, and the early years of the Global War on Terror, making it a defining piece of late 20th-century U.S. combat gear.
