The Avon Protection M50 Joint Service General Purpose Mask (JSGPM) is the U.S. military’s premier next-generation CBRN protective respirator, engineered to deliver superior performance in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threat environments. Designed to exceed the operational requirements of the modern warfighter, the M50 offers a dramatic improvement over legacy M40 series masks through its dual-edge seal, reduced breathing resistance, panoramic field of vision, and enhanced user comfort during prolonged missions.

The mask’s single-piece polycarbonate visor provides exceptional optical clarity and distortion-free sightlines, enabling improved situational awareness in dynamic environments. A chlorobutyl/silicone hybrid facepiece forms a highly conformal seal across diverse facial structures, while the internal airflow system promotes balanced inhalation and exhalation paths to control moisture, heat buildup, and CO₂ retention.

Integrated communications architecture—including a front exhalation valve optimized for speech projection and an Electronic Communication Port (ECP) compatible with in-mask microphones—supports clear communication with team members and radio systems. A high-flow hydration module allows fluid intake while maintaining full CBRN integrity.
