Original Soviet OPF anti-flash protective goggles developed for military use during the Cold War. These specialized goggles were intended to protect the wearer’s eyes from the intense visible, infrared and ultraviolet light produced by a nuclear detonation. Their layered lens assemblies combine photochromic and infrared filters to absorb the energy of a sudden light pulse and reduce burn injuries and temporary flash blindness.
 
The goggles feature a molded black rubber facepiece, green-tinted filter assemblies, labyrinth-style covered ventilation, adjustable rubber head straps and rigid ear supports. The raised “1” marking identifies this example as Size 1. Includes its original olive-drab molded carrying case with leather closure strap.
 
Shows surface scuffs, markings and general age-related storage wear. Lenses appear intact with some minor dust and marks. Sold as a historical collectible only; protective performance has not been tested or certified.
