Original East German Blumentarn camouflage trousers with NVA suspenders, measuring approximately 36 inches at the waist with a 31-inch inseam. This circa-1960s pair features a button fly, buttoned pocket flaps, metal suspender attachment rings, and factory-sewn ventilation eyelets at the crotch. The included adjustable Y-back suspenders have leather attachment tabs and metal adjusters marked “Extra Stark,” with an NVA stamp dated to the second quarter of 1970.
Known as Flächentarn and commonly nicknamed Blumentarn, or “flower camouflage,” this pattern was used by East German forces during the early Cold War. Its irregular green, blue-green, and brown shapes over a gray background distinguish it from the later Strichtarn rain pattern that began replacing it during the 1960s. Early camouflage uniforms were designed to fit over service clothing, giving the trousers their roomy cut.
A well-preserved example with all buttons present and suspenders included. The camouflage retains good definition, with light signs of age and storage, including spotting on the underside of the suspenders. The interior trouser panels bear repeated “640//2” markings; the trousers’ exact manufacture date is unconfirmed.
