The Intermediate Cold Weather (ICW) Sleeping Bag is a core component of the U.S. Military Modular Sleep System (MSS). Designed for reliable insulation in harsh environments, it provides effective warmth on its own in temperatures ranging from 30°F down to -10°F, depending on conditions and clothing layers.
Constructed from water-resistant ripstop nylon, the ICW bag uses a non-migrating insulation system to eliminate cold spots and maintain consistent thermal protection. The anatomically shaped foot box contains double the insulation, increasing warmth where heat loss is most common.
The hood features an adjustable draw-cord, barrel lock, and a sewn-in quilted chest collar to reduce drafts and retain heat. While built for field use, it also works well in cabins, unheated buildings, or as a warm sleeping pad in milder climates.
